After a very successful first tournament last November, Beacon Hose bringing back the Beacon-Holio Cornhole Tournament!
The tournament is set for Sunday, Oct. 9 — Columbus Day weekend — at noon at Beacon Hose. (Registration and shootaround will begin at 11 a.m., followed by lunch.) It’ll be an all-afternoon affair (RAIN OR SHINE!) with big cash prizes on the line. The nuts and bolts of the tournament are below; click here for the rules, which will be the same as those used by the American Cornhole Organization.
- $100 entry fee per team (two players per team; pay the day of the event)
- Tournament is open to everybody — especially our friends from other departments
- Event is rain or shine (in the event of inclement weather, we will move inside the firehouse)
- Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, as determined by the elimination tournament at the end of the day (the more teams that enter, the higher the prizes will be — last year’s winners took home $750)
- A barbecue lunch (exact menu TBA) will be included for players; spectators can purchase lunch for $10
- Beers (for those 21 and older) will be available for $1 each
- Eight courts will be set up to regulation dimensions, so everybody gets to play a whole lot of games (and we’ve made a few improvements to the boards from last year)
- Teams will play several round-robin games, and teams will be seeded for the elimination tournament by record in pool play
- All teams will advance to the elimination tournament, which will be single-elimination series (best-of-three)
