Register for 6th Annual Beacon-Holio Cornhole Tourney on Oct. 11

Update: Thanks for your support!

Not even COVID-19 can stop the Beacon-Holio Cornhole Tournament from returning for a sixth run at Beacon Hose — and we’ve got beautiful new boards to play on this year!

The tournament is set for Sunday, Oct. 11 at Beacon Hose. Registration and shootaround will begin at 9:30 a.m., and bags will fly at 11 a.m. with big cash prizes on the line. The nuts and bolts of the tournament, including COVID-19 safety precautions, are below; click here for the rules, which will be the same as those used by the American Cornhole League.

DIVISIONS: There will be two divisions as designated by the ACL — Advanced and Competitive. Teams must sign up to play in one of the two divisions at registration. The tournament director reserves the right to move teams to a different division if they are found to be sandbagging or violating the spirit of competition. If you’re not sure, more about the ACL’s divisions can be found here.

ENTRY FEES: Registration fees will be $100 per team in both divisions. Fees are payable via cash, check, Venmo, or PayPal on the day of the tournament.

PRIZES: The prize pool will be determined by the number of teams in the tournament — the prizes in the Advanced division will be approximately double those in the Competitive division. Last year, we awarded nearly $2,500 in cash prizes to the top three finishers in each division, including $1,000 to the Advanced champs and $400 to the Competitive champs.

LUNCH AND DRINKS: All-you-can-eat lunch will be included for players with a menu to be determined. Beers (for those 21 and older) will be available for $2 each.

COURTS AND NEW BOARDS: At least eight courts will be set up outside of our firehouse — we must play outside in 2020 due to COVID-19 precautions, so inclement weather may force the postponement or cancellation of the tournament. Beacon Hose has invested in brand-new pro-grade boards produced by West Georgia Cornhole, so we’ve finally upgraded from the old boards that might have given you some bad bounces in the past. We operate the tournament using Scoreholio (download the app before coming), so there are no long waits for teams to play.

Beacon Hose has six brand-new sets of pro-grade cornhole boards custom made by West Georgia Cornhole!

BAGS: All teams must bring and use their own bags, and bags must meet ACL certifications. All bags must be filled with synthetic material and cannot produce any residue upon contact with the boards.

FORMAT: Teams will play several round-robin games as determined by the tournament director (approximately four, depending on attendance and time considerations), and teams will be seeded for the elimination tournaments by records in pool play. All teams will advance to the elimination tournaments, which will follow a double-elimination format. All pairings and brackets will be tracked on Scoreholio.

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: Due to limitations enacted by Gov. Ned Lamont during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will likely have to limit the field to 50 teams. All participants must wear face coverings while playing and in other settings in which people are closer than 6 feet apart. Social distancing should be practiced when possible. Unfortunately, no spectators will be allowed at the tournament.

FOOTBALL: Don’t want to miss any NFL action? Don’t worry; we’ll have the games on TV.

PARKING: Limited parking will be available at Beacon Hose next to the Beacon Falls Senior Center. More parking is available along the street shoulders on North Main Street, in the commuter parking lot across from Gabe’s Automotive, and in the train station parking lot on Railroad Avenue.
