UPDATE: Thanks for your support! Merry Christmas!

Beacon Hose’s favorite season is chock full of events in 2018, including the annual tree lighting and bonfire, Bring Santa Home, and our annual Christmas tree sale!

TREE LIGHTING AND BONFIRE

Dec. 1 is the annual Beacon Falls Christmas tree lightning and bonfire. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. at Beacon Falls Town Hall and continue to St. Michael’s Church and the Beacon Falls Congregational Church. We’ll finish at the Lewis House, where we’ll light a bonfire and have free refreshments and entertainment for all. A hayride will also be making its rounds through the neighborhood. Hopefully you can come ring in the season with us!

BHC Christmas Tree Sale Runs Black Friday Through Dec. 16

UPDATE: Thanks for your support! Merry Christmas!

The annual tradition that is Beacon Hose helping our neighbors celebrate Christmas is returning once again to the firehouse with the start of our Christmas tree sales!

The sale will begin once again this year with a special Black Friday sale for those looking to get a head start on the Christmas season. We’ll continue Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 24-25) and the three weekends after that (Dec. 1-2, Dec. 8-9, Dec. 15-16) until supplies run out. We’ll be at the firehouse each day of the sale from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. (We will close on Nov. 24 and Dec. 15 at 3 p.m.)

The fresh-cut trees cost $50 each, and free delivery is available to all Beacon Falls residents. We’ll also custom trim any tree to specifications — they generally run anywhere from six to eight feet tall. We also have some nine- and 10-foot trees that are available for $60 each. Those who would like to buy a Christmas tree without leaving their own home can also call the firehouse at 203-729-1470 during any of the sale hours.

Beacon Hose to Host Fire Prevention Week Open House on Oct. 10

UPDATE: Thanks for your support!

It’s almost one of our favorite weeks of the year at Beacon Hose — Fire Prevention Week, when we get to share important fire prevention and safety tips with our community.

Make sure to join us Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 6-9 p.m. at the firehouse for our open house, when we’ll have hands-on demonstrations to teach some important fire prevention and safety tips! (More info at the bottom of this post.)

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be Aware. Fire Can Happen Anywhere.” What does this mean? We want all of our residents to be vigilant around their homes, workplaces, schools, and other areas for potential fire hazards and escape scenarios. If fire hazards exist, you should take steps to fix them and prevent fires. And in places where you frequent, you should always have a plan for multiple escape routes in case of fire or other emergency.

We want to make sure that all of our residents have developed fire escape plans in their own homes. Everyone who lives in your home should know two ways out of every room, practice them to simulate conditions of a smoky house at nighttime, and have a safe meeting place outside and away from your home so that we know everyone made it out safely.

We also want to make sure our residents have installed smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of their homes, including the basement. Larger homes may need more alarms.

Here are a few key bits of information that you might not know about the importance of smoke detectors and escape plans. (If you’d like to see more fast facts about fires, click here.)
