53rd Annual Firemen’s Carnival Goes Down as BHC’s Best Ever

The community support for the 53rd annual Beacon Hose Firemen’s Carnival was absolutely unparalleled and made us at Beacon Hose grateful and humble. Carnival chairman Kyle Brennan has a few words to share about the event:

On behalf of all of us at Beacon Hose, I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who joined us for our carnival this year. By every measure possible, we enjoyed our best event ever (by a long shot). That’s all thanks to the tremendous community we serve and the unrivaled dedication of our volunteers.

I, along with my awesome committee, put us out on a limb this year by turning the carnival on its head and making some big changes. With the combination of our volunteers’ hard work and our visitors’ patience, everything worked better than we could have imagined. I hope you found the lines more bearable, the atmosphere less cramped and the experience more enjoyable this year. The changes we made are here to stay, and we’ll only try to make it better next June.

53rd Beacon Hose Carnival Set for June 9-11 with New Changes

Update: Thanks for your support!

The Beacon Hose Firemen’s Carnival, one of Beacon Falls’ longest lasting and most enjoyable traditions, is set to return for the 53rd time this Thursday-Saturday, June 9-11, on the grounds of Beacon Hose.

Each June, thousands of visitors from Beacon Falls and towns all over the state join us for three nights of delicious food, cold drinks, exciting rides, great fun and engaging music to help raise funds for the civic side of Beacon Hose’s operations.

Carnivals and parades used to be common traditions among local fire departments, but many have been discontinued over the years because of the work required. We’ve made sure to continue an event that has become a town-wide tradition. Proceeds from the carnival go toward our community efforts, including sponsorship of local youth sports, fire prevention programs, educational scholarships, holiday functions, events throughout the community and opportunities for our volunteer members.

BHC Accepting Carnival Donations, Sponsorships, Parade Registrations

Update: Thanks for your support!

The 53rd Beacon Hose Firemen’s Carnival and Parade is set for this June! We hope to see our residents, friends and fellow members of the fire service from June 9-11 for delicious food, cold drinks, lots of fun, engaging music and great rides — including this year’s mechanical bull!

Our committee has been hard at work, installing a number of changes that we think will make this the best event we’ve ever held. Check out everything we’re cooking up by clicking here.

Part of our job in the lead-up to the event is soliciting donations from our residents, friends and local businesses. There is a substantial cost associated with hosting an event of this scale, and the kind donations that we receive help us maximize the benefits of this event. All proceeds benefit our community, including sponsorship of local youth sports, fire prevention programs, educational scholarships, holiday functions, events throughout the community and opportunities for our volunteer members.

Annual Beacon Falls RiverFest, Duck Race, 5K Set For May 14

Update: Thanks for your support!

As we continue to prepare for the upcoming Beacon Hose carnival from June 9-11, there’s one big event left on the agenda before then.

Yep, it’s the annual Beacon Falls RiverFest! In addition to the festival and duck race on May 14, this year there’s a new event attached to the goings-on. It’s the first Jill’s Race for MS, and it’s being run in memory of longtime Beacon Falls resident Jill Betkoski, who had multiple sclerosis and passed away 10 years ago.

The race starts at the Beacon Falls Recreation Complex at 10 a.m. and will loop downtown, through the hill section off Burton Road and finish near the firehouse. The race — which comes in the form of a 5k run, a 2-mile walk or a half-mile kids run — costs $25 for adults and $15 for children.
