Beacon Hose Truck 6 Christened at Wetdown

Beacon Hose christened Truck 6 — the department’s new, 2017 Pierce Ascendant quint with a 107-foot ladder — at a wetdown ceremony June 24.

Our friends from the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Dept. and Oxford Center Co. No. 1 joined us for the traditional wetting down of the truck. Chief Brian DeGeorge and engineer Paul Brennan also sprayed the apparatus with champagne, and department chaplain Fr. MathaiĀ Vellappallil delivered a wonderful blessing for the truck. The truck is now in service and continues to be populated with new equipment.

Truck 6 T-shirts will be on sale until July 23. Shirts are navy blue with our department’s logo on the chest and artwork featuring Truck 6 on the back. Men’s sizes small-XL ($20.95) and 2XL-5XL ($25.95) are available online. Any shirt sizes on backorder will be filled when the order closes and should be available by the beginning of August.

Beacon Hose Takes Delivery of New Truck 6

Truck 6, a 2017 Pierce Ascendant quint apparatus, arrived in Beacon Falls on March 30 after the purchase order was approved in February. The town paid $850,000 for the demo piece, which included lettering, equipment mounting, and a few modifications to meet our needs.

Board of Selectmen Approves Purchase of Pierce 107-Foot Quint

Beacon Hose is thrilled to announce that we are FINALLY GETTING OUR LADDER TRUCK!

The Board of Selectmen approved this evening a purchase order for the demo apparatus that we examined earlier this month. We will be purchasing a 2017 Pierce Ascendant, which is a quint apparatus with a 107-foot ladder, 500 gallons of water, several ground ladders, and compartment space for a wide assortment of tools.

With this apparatus being a demo piece, we are getting a whole lot of bang for our buck. Pierce has agreed to outfit the truck with some specific changes that we requested, and we expect to take delivery of this rig by the end of April.
