Mother’s Day Breakfast, Duck Race Kick Off May

Update: Thanks for your support!

Mother’s Day weekend will be an exciting one at Beacon Hose as two big events are planned at the firehouse.

The 17th annual Lions Club of Beacon Falls Duck Race (and the eighth annual Naugatuck Valley River Race) will be held Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on the grounds of Beacon Hose and Volunteer Park.

There are nine prizes in this year’s duck race, ranging from a Weber gas grill to a tablet to several gift certificates. Tickets are $5 and will be available until 3:15 p.m. the day of the event. The ducks will be dumped into the river at 3:30 p.m. Proceeds support the Beacon Falls Lions’ and Lioness’ scholarships, youth activities, aid for families in need and many more causes.

The festival includes vendors, food, games and live music from the Rubber City Blues Band starting at 12:30 p.m. Beacon Hose will also have a booth behind the firehouse — we’ll let you know soon what we’ll be serving!

Beacon Hose will also host a Mother’s Day breakfast Sunday, May 10, from 7:30-11:30 a.m. at the firehouse.

The menu includes eggs, French toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, home fries, coffee, tea and juice. All mothers who join us will receive a Mother’s Day gift from Beacon Hose.

Tickets are on sale at the firehouse Monday-Friday from 7-3 p.m. up until the event. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
