BHC Plans Christmas Mega-Day Dec. 7 with Santa Visits, Parade, and Movie

UPDATE: Thanks for your support!

Beacon Hose’s favorite season is chock full of events in 2019, including a few changes to some of our traditional events along with our annual Christmas tree sale! If you’re looking to join our new Christmas parade or schedule a time for a special visit with Santa at the firehouse, read on!

CHRISTMAS PARADE AND MOVIE

The Beacon Falls tradition of parading around the Hill section of town for Christmas lightings isn’t going anywhere — we’re just spicing it up this year! Instead of an unorganized stroll around the neighborhood ending with a fire, we’re hosting a Christmas parade that will end with a movie and refreshments at Beacon Hose!

The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. at Beacon Falls Town Hall and continue to St. Michael’s Church and the Beacon Falls Congregational Church. Coming along to each stop will be a Christmas parade of decorated firetrucks, trailers, and other vehicles (more on that below, including how to join and where to watch). It’ll all end at Beacon Hose, where Santa will visit, we’ll have refreshments, and we’ll show “Elf” on a jumbo projector screen starting a little after 7 p.m.!

The parade route is below. Lineup for participating vehicles will be in the Laurel Ledge parking lots starting at 4:30 p.m. Vehicles will hit the road by 6 p.m. and follow the red route around Highland Avenue, North Circle, Wolfe Avenue, and Century Avenue to Town Hall. The parade will then follow the green route down Maple Avenue, South Circle, Wolfe Avenue, Burton Road, and North Main Street before parade apparatuses park at the commuter parking lot across from Gabe’s and/or the business lot behind Gabe’s.

The best viewing areas for the parade will be on the St. Michael’s Church Green or along the center median on North Main Street between Burton Road and the Exit 24 on-ramp.

Those individuals, groups, businesses, or fire/EMS departments who would like to enter a vehicle/trailer into our parade should fill out the following form by Dec. 6. We will get in touch with more details after you RSVP. Trophies will also be awarded in six categories, including Most Lights; Best Holiday Theme; Most Creative Entry; Best Beacon Falls Entry; Best Fire/EMS Entry; and Ho-Ho-Host’s Choice.

SANTA VISITS BEACON HOSE

We love making sure our Beacon Falls youngsters get a chance to meet Santa Claus before Christmas — and hopefully receive a gift from the big man, too!

Instead of the Bring Santa Home program we’ve run the last few years, we’re busy decorating the inside of Beacon Hose because Santa will be camping out all day Dec. 7 at the firehouse! We want to make each visit special, so appointment times to meet with Santa are open now. Times can be reserved by visiting the link below. Santa will be here from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. — first-come, first-serve.

Upon reserving an appointment time, our crew will get in touch with you to arrange the secret details! (For example, if you’d like to arrange for Santa to give your child a gift, we’ll set up a drop-off time.) We encourage a 5-minute slot for one or two children, and back-to-back 5-minute slots if you’ll have more than two children. There is no fee, but we will accept donations to benefit the less fortunate families we sponsor during the holidays.

CHRISTMAS TREE SALE

Remember, too, our Christmas sale runs each weekend leading up to Christmas (starting Black Friday) until our supplies run out. Trees cost $50 each and we offer custom trimming and free delivery to Beacon Falls residents. We’ll also be taking over wreath sales from the former Boy Scouts troop — more details will be posted soon. Click that link above for more details.

Merry Christmas from your friends at Beacon Hose!
