BHC Christmas: Tree Sale, Parade, Bonfire, Santa Drive-Thru, Popcorn Ball Sunday, and Operation Believe

Update: Thanks for your support! Happy holidays!

Beacon Hose’s favorite season is chock full of events in 2021 after we missed out on a lot of our usual events last year. Here’s what’s on tap!

CHRISTMAS TREE SALE

Our longtime tradition of the Christmas tree sale will return to our parking lot on weekends after Thanksgiving. We’ll open up Black Friday, and then we’ll be here Saturdays and Sundays thereafter until we’re sold out. We are open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. during the sale.

We’ve been hit with the same supply issues as almost every industry out there, so this year’s trees cost $65. As always, we offer custom tree trimming and free delivery to Beacon Falls residents. We also have wreaths (12-inch wreaths for $20, 20-inch wreaths for $30) and cemetery boxes ($15) — cash, checks, and cards are accepted.

CHRISTMAS PARADE, BONFIRE, AND MOVIE

We’re bringing back the traditional Hill section lightings and bonfire, and we’re adding in the twist of a Christmas parade and movie that we added back in 2019! Mark your calendar for Saturday, Dec. 4.

The parade will step off from Beacon Hose at 5:45 p.m., and the lighting festivities will begin at 6 p.m. at Beacon Falls Town Hall. They will continue to St. Michael’s Church and the Beacon Falls Congregational Church before stopping at the Tracy Lewis House on Wolfe Avenue.

Coming along to each stop will be a Christmas parade of decorated firetrucks, trailers, and other vehicles. It’ll all end at the Lewis House, where we’ll have a giant bonfire, refreshments, and a showing of a Christmas movie on a jumbo projector screen starting by 7 p.m.! (P.S. Santa might visit, too.)

The parade route is below. The lineup for participating vehicles will be in the Beacon Hose parking lot starting at 4:30 p.m. The best viewing areas for the parade will be along North Main Street north of the Route 8 ramps, in the Laurel Ledge parking lots, on the grass triangle on South Circle, and the St. Michael’s Church Green.

Individuals, groups, businesses, or fire/EMS departments who would like to enter a vehicle/trailer into our parade should fill out the following form by Dec. 2. We will get in touch with more details after you RSVP. Trophies will also be awarded in six categories, including Most Lights; Best Holiday Theme; Most Creative Entry; Best Beacon Falls Entry; Best Fire/EMS Entry; and Ho-Ho-Host’s Choice.

SANTA DRIVE-THRU AT BEACON HOSE

We love making sure our Beacon Falls youngsters get a chance to meet Santa Claus before Christmas — and hopefully receive a gift from the big man, too!

Santa will visit Beacon Hose on Sunday, Dec. 12 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Families will be invited to drive around the firehouse, check in from the car, and drive into the firehouse where Santa will be awaiting with the gift(s)! You’ll be able to get out and have a quick meeting with the big man.

Parents who would like to drop off a gift for Santa to give to their child are welcome to do that. Please make sure the gift is wrapped and labeled with your child’s name, and we’ll take care of the rest.

There is no fee to come visit Santa, but we will accept donations to benefit Operation Believe and the less fortunate families we sponsor during the holidays. Please send us an email — believe@beaconhose.com — if you want to sign up!

POPCORN BALL SUNDAY

We brought back Popcorn Ball Sunday in 2020, and it’s back again! Santa Claus will leave the firehouse at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, and hit almost every single road in Beacon Falls over the next two hours or so.

Make sure you listen for the sirens when Santa is close to your neighborhood, and Santa will be on top of a firetruck to toss popcorn balls out to all the kids he sees! Click here to see the route. (It’ll be hard for us to give exact estimates of when each truck will be in each neighborhood, but it will be between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.)

OPERATION BELIEVE

Beacon Hose’s Victor Santos launched Operation Believe in 2020 to a wonderful reception in our community. Operation Believe is back this Christmas season!

A limited number of Operation Believe flags and signs are still available for purchase — stop by our Christmas tree sale or email believe@beaconhose.com for information. Those who placed online orders should have received email instructions for pickup.

The crew is also planning a visit to Laurel Ledge Elementary School — more details to come! Contact us — believe@beaconhose.com — if you have any questions or need more information.
