Beacon Hose to Participate in Operation EDITH on Oct. 8

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone for participating!

Beacon Hose wants to remind all of our residents that Fire Prevention Week is this Oct. 3-9! This year’s theme is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety” — we recommend looking at this great tip sheet about what the sounds coming from your smoke alarm or carbon monoxide detector mean!

Unfortunately, COVID-19 is still in the way of our usual Fire Prevention Week activities, but the fire department is inviting everyone to join Operation EDITH on Friday, Oct. 8!

Operation EDITH stands for “Exit Drills in the Home” and is intended to help families practice their home fire escape plans. All you need to do to participate is wait until Beacon Hose’s fire whistle sounds at 6 p.m., practice your home fire escape plan as a family, and wait outside at your meeting place. Beacon Hose’s firetrucks will be driving through many neighborhoods to see how many families have a secure plan and practiced it with us.

Beacon Hose Seeks Applicants for Full-Time Firefighter/EMT Positions

UPDATE: We are no longer seeking applicants at this time.

Beacon Hose is now seeking applicants for two full-time firefighter/EMTs! These paid positions will continue to staff Beacon Hose during weekdays, as we’ve done for nearly 15 years.

Interested candidates must submit a letter of interest, a resume, copies of all necessary certifications (including Firefighter 1, EMT, CPR, and a Q or CDL-B license), and three letters of recommendation to our Chief’s Office by Sept. 1. They can be sent to the firehouse (35 North Main Street, Beacon Falls) or to chief@beaconhose.com.

A full job posting, complete with duties and requirements, can be found by clicking here or scrolling below.

Beacon Hose’s longtime daytime firefighter/EMT and administrative assistant, Gretchen Carlson, has accepted a new position with another service and will spend her last day with Beacon Hose on Sept. 3. We can’t thank her enough for all the work she’s done not only at Beacon Hose but throughout our community for many years!
