2nd Annual Boil, Broil, and Bologna Drive-Thru to Benefit BHC Special Ops Unit

UPDATE: Orders have now closed. Thanks for your support!

Y’all already know that our carnival will be held in October this year — but we know you want some good food before then! That’s why we’re holding our second annual Beacon Hose Boil, Broil, and Bologna Drive-Thru Dinner!

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 7, from 4-7 p.m.. All dinners must be pre-ordered and pre-paid, and they picked up during a designated time slot at Beacon Hose. Pre-ordering will close on Wednesday, Aug. 4 — there will be no day-of orders available, so don’t wait!

This year, proceeds will go toward advancing Beacon Hose’s new special operations unit. This unit provides for swift-water rescue, ice rescue, rope rescue, and dive-team capabilities as part of the Region 5 Dive Team. The town provides some funding for equipment, but this fundraiser will allow us to self-fund more upgrades, equipment, and training opportunities for the 15-plus Beacon Hose members on our unit.

What’s on the menu? Not just the classic lobster dinners available every year at our carnival, but also the return of the Lobster Bomb! We’ll also have steak dinners on the grill, and some beloved bologna sandwiches!

BHC Corned Beef Dinner to Benefit Firefighter Nate Cartwright

UPDATE: Orders are now closed. Thanks for your support!

Beacon Hose will host a drive-thru corned beef dinner on Saturday, March 20, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. to benefit one of our own, firefighter/EMR Nate Cartwright.

Nate joined Beacon Hose in November 2015 and has been a valuable contributor on our fire and EMS units ever since. Unfortunately, Nate has recently faced some serious health troubles that have saddled him and his family with costly medical bills. We at Beacon Hose are here to help him out, and we hope you will join us!

All dinners must be pre-ordered and pre-paid, and they picked up during a designated time slot at Beacon Hose. Pre-ordering will close on Wednesday, March 17 — there will be no day-of orders available, so don’t wait!

What’s on the menu? A delicious dinner featuring corned beef (boiled in Guinness and veggies), potatoes, cabbage, onions, and carrots, along with rye bread and butter, plus a special “pistachio pudding lasagna” for dessert.

BHC Christmas Tree Sale to Begin Black Friday

UPDATE: We are sold out for this year. Thank you all for the support — Merry Christmas!

We know many of you are looking forward to Christmas more than ever this year … so we figured we’d let everyone know that we will once again be hosting our annual Christmas tree sale at Beacon Hose!

The sale will start Black Friday and continue each Saturday and Sunday leading up to Christmas until we sell out. We’ll be there from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. Our crew is happy to trim your tree to your liking, and we also offer free delivery to Beacon Falls residents.

Trees will cost $55 each this year, and we will also have wreaths available (more info to come). Due to the pandemic, all those coming down to pick a tree must wear face masks and exercise social distancing (our crew will do the same). Cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted.

We’re also hoping to come up with some sort of idea to safely celebrate the holiday season with our community — more details to come over the next week or two.

Beacon Hose to Participate in Operation EDITH on Oct. 7

Update: Great job to all who participated!

Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 wants to remind all of our residents that this Wednesday, October 7, is Fire Prevention Day! Unfortunately, Beacon Hose isn’t able to visit Laurel Ledge or host an open house this year, but the fire department is inviting everyone to join Operation EDITH!

Operation EDITH stands for “Exit Drills in the Home” and is intended to help families practice their home fire escape plans. All you need to do to participate is wait until Beacon Hose’s fire whistle sounds at 6 p.m., practice your home fire escape plan as a family, and wait outside at your meeting place. Beacon Hose’s firetrucks will be driving through many neighborhoods to see how many families have a secure plan and practiced it with us.
