Beacon Hose Enjoys Tremendously Successful Carnival

And so goes into the books yet another Beacon Hose firemen’s carnival — the 55th annual, in fact! We thank each and every one of you who joined us over our three days for your loyal and unwavering support of our department.

For the first time in years, Mother Nature smiled upon us for all three days of the festivities. We enjoyed some of our best turnout and success ever, and it’s all because of people like you. We may be the ones who come save the day, but you’re the ones who make every day a great one in Beacon Falls.

We appreciate all the departments and town organizations who joined us for our parade. Special congratulations to Middlebury (Best Overall Fire Unit), Great Hill Hose Co. (Best Appearing Apparatus), Oxford Center of Oxford Fire-Rescue (Host Choice),Lyme Fire Company (Best Appearing Antique Motorized) and all of our trophy winners. We’ll have the full list on our website later today. And we got to salute our own Bob Messner, who drove the 1929 Seagrave in his 57th and final parade.

We also drew our 10 raffle winners: Bill Classey, Ellen Murray, Al Linley Jr., Lillian Smith, Scott Maze, Beth Rowley, Kevin Marshall, Cef Riviera, Barb Persico and Louisa Heeman. We’ll be in touch with the winners to pick up their gift certificates.

More appreciation goes to Sudden Impact on Friday and Swell Daze on Saturday for crushing it on stage, as well as Marenna Amusements for whipping around some great rides. And, of course, a tremendous thanks to all our members, their friends and family, and members from surrounding departments who volunteered to help work our carnival.
