Beacon Hose’s Christmas Tree Sales Begin Black Friday

The annual tradition that is Beacon Hose helping our neighbors celebrate Christmas is returning once again to the firehouse with the start of our Christmas tree sales!

The sale will begin once again this year with a special Black Friday sale for those looking to get a head start on the Christmas season. We’ll continue Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 25-26) and the two weekends after that (Dec. 2-3, Dec. 9-10) until supplies run out. We’ll be at the firehouse each day of the sale from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The fresh-cut trees cost $45 each, and free delivery is available to all Beacon Falls residents. We’ll also custom trim any tree to specifications. Those who would like to buy a Christmas tree without leaving their own home can also call the firehouse at (203) 729-1470 during any of the sale hours.

Fire Prevention Week 2017: Open House and Safety Tips

UPDATE: Thanks for your support!

It’s one of our favorite weeks of the year at Beacon Hose — Fire Prevention Week, when we get to share important fire prevention and safety tips with our community.

Make sure to join us Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 6-9 p.m. at the firehouse for our open house, when we’ll have hands-on demonstrations to teach some important fire prevention and safety tips! (More info at the bottom of this post.)

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Every Second Counts: Know Two Ways Out.” What does this mean? We want to make sure that all of our residents have developed fire escape plans in their own homes. Everyone who lives in your home should know two ways out of every room, practice them to simulate conditions of a smoky house at nighttime, and have a safe meeting place outside and away from your home so that we know everyone made it out safely.

We also want to make sure our residents have installed smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of their homes, including the basement. Larger homes may need more alarms.

Here are a few key bits of information that you might not know about the importance of smoke detectors and escape plans. (If you’d like to see more fast facts about fires, click here.)

BHC Accepting Donations, Sponsors, Parade RSVPs for Carnival

Update: Thank you for your support!

The 54th Beacon Hose Firemen’s Carnival and Parade is set for this June! We hope to see our residents, friends and fellow members of the fire service from June 8-10 for delicious food, cold drinks, lots of fun, engaging music and great rides — including this year’s rock climbing wall!

Our committee has been hard at work, imagining a few changes to build upon the tremendous success we experienced in 2016. Check out everything we’re cooking up by clicking here.

Part of our job in the lead-up to the event is soliciting donations from our residents, friends and local businesses. There is a substantial cost associated with hosting an event of this scale, and the kind donations that we receive help us maximize the benefits of this event. Proceeds benefit our community, including sponsorship of local youth sports, fire prevention programs, educational scholarships, holiday functions, events throughout the community and opportunities for our volunteer members.
