Register for 5th Annual Beacon-Holio Cornhole Tourney on Oct. 13

UPDATE: Thanks for your support!

The Beacon-Holio Cornhole Tournament is back for a fifth run at Beacon Hose!

The tournament is set for Sunday, Oct. 13 at Beacon Hose. (Registration and shootaround will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by an all-you-can-eat BBQ lunch) It’ll be an all-afternoon affair (RAIN OR SHINE!) with big cash prizes on the line. The nuts and bolts of the tournament are below; click here for the rules, which will be the same as those used by the American Cornhole League.

DIVISIONS: We’re sticking with the two-division format we introduced last year — our top-level tournament is our Advanced division, and the lower-level tournament is our Social division. (We know there are more ACL-recognized divisions — namely Pro, Competitive, and Tailgate — than the two we’ve chosen to include, so players can choose their division for our tournament based on whatever is closest to what they usually play.)

ENTRY FEES: Registration fees for the Advanced division are $100 per team, while registration fees for the Social division are $80 per team. Fees are payable via cash or check on the day of the tournament.

PRIZES: The prize pool will be determined by the number of teams in the tournament — the prizes in the Advanced division will be higher than those in the Social division. Last year, we awarded nearly $2,000 in cash to the top three finishers in each division, including $750 to the Advanced champs.

LUNCH AND DRINKS: A barbecue lunch (pulled pork, pulled chicken, mac and cheese, and cornbread) will be included for players; spectators can purchase lunch tickets for $15 each. Beers (for those 21 and older) will be available for $2 each.

COURTS: Six courts will be set up inside of our firehouse, so the event is rain or shine. Games are constantly being added to open courts once other games finish, so there’s no lull in the action and no long waits for teams to play. Practice courts will be set up outside.

BAGS: All teams can bring and use their own bags, as long as they meet ACL certifications. There will be traditional canvas-style bags available at each court for teams who do not bring their own.

FORMAT: Teams will play several round-robin games as determined by the tournament director (at least four and possibly more, depending on attendance and time considerations), and teams will be seeded for the elimination tournaments by records in pool play. All teams will advance to the elimination tournaments, which will follow a double-elimination format until the championship and third-place matches. Those matches will be determined in a best-of-three-games format.

FOOTBALL: Don’t want to miss any NFL action? Don’t worry; we’ll have the games on TV.
