BHC Holidays: Tree Sale, Lightings and Parade, Charity Drives, Popcorn Ball Sunday, and Operation Believe

UPDATE: Thanks for your support this holiday season! Happy holidays!

Beacon Hose’s favorite season is chock full of events in 2023. Here’s what’s on tap!

CHRISTMAS TREE SALE

Our longtime tradition of the Christmas tree sale will return to our parking lot on weekends after Thanksgiving. We’ll open up Black Friday, and then we’ll be here Saturdays and Sundays thereafter until we’re sold out. We are open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. during the sale.

Trees cost $70. As always, we offer custom tree trimming and free delivery to Beacon Falls residents. We also have cemetery boxes for $18 each. Cash, checks, and cards are accepted.

The local Cub Scouts will also sell wreaths (12 inches for $20, 20 inches for $35).

CHRISTMAS LIGHTINGS AND PARADE

Mark your calendar for Saturday, Dec. 2 — it’s the town’s annual Christmas lightings and light parade!

The parade will step off from the Beacon Falls commuter parking lot at 5:45 p.m., looping around the Hill section before making our first stop at Beacon Falls Town Hall. They will continue to St. Michael’s Church and the Beacon Falls Congregational Church before finishing on Wolfe Avenue.

Coming along to each stop will be a Christmas parade of decorated firetrucks, trailers, and other vehicles. It’ll all end on Wolfe Avenue, where we’re bringing back our bonfire! Enjoy hot chocolate and hot dogs along with the roaring fire. (P.S. Santa might visit, too.)

The parade route is below. The lineup for participating vehicles will be in the commuter parking lot. The best viewing areas for the parade will be along North Main Street to Burton Road, the Laurel Ledge parking lots, and the St. Michael’s Church Green. No parking will be allowed on Wolfe Avenue.

Individuals, groups, businesses, or fire/EMS departments who would like to enter a vehicle/trailer into our parade should fill out the following form by Dec. 1. We will get in touch with more details after you RSVP. We’ll have awards in five categories, including Most Lights; Most Creative Entry; Best Beacon Falls Entry; Best Fire/EMS Entry; and Ho-Ho-Host’s Choice.

CHARITY DRIVES

Beacon Hose will be involved in three charity drives this holiday season.

  • Beacon Hose winter coat drive: On Nov. 25, consider donating a new or gently used winter coat to benefit local families. Coats can be dropped off during our Christmas tree sale from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thanks to our Emma DeGeorge for organizing this!
  • Beacon Falls Police Department toy drive: The Beacon Falls Police Department will host its annual toy drive at Walmart in Naugatuck on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Beacon Hose will also accept donations for the drive at our Christmas tree sale all weekend. All donations will benefit Beacon Falls families.
  • Beacon Falls Lions Club food drive: The Beacon Falls Lions Club will host its annual food drive at Beacon Hose on Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Nonperishable food items, gift cards, and cash donations will be accepted, and all donations will benefit Beacon Falls families.

MENORAH LIGHTING

Beacon Falls and the Chabad Jewish Center of Oxford will host the town’s first Chanukah celebration and menorah lighting Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall. There will be a menorah lighting with latkes, donuts, music, and more.

POPCORN BALL SUNDAY

Popcorn Ball Sunday is back again! Santa Claus will leave the firehouse at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17, and hit almost every road in Beacon Falls over the next two hours or so.

Make sure you listen for the sirens when Santa is close to your neighborhood, and Santa will be on top of a firetruck to toss popcorn balls out to all the kids he sees! Click here to see the route. (It’ll be hard for us to give exact estimates of when each truck will be in each neighborhood, but it will be between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.)

OPERATION BELIEVE AND SANTA DRIVE-THRU

Operation Believe flags, signs, and new door mats are available for purchase — click here to order online now! They’ll also be available at our Christmas tree sale.

In addition, Santa will visit Beacon Hose for our Santa Drive-Thru on Sunday, Dec. 10 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. If you’re interested in learning more about visiting to give your children a chance to receive a gift from Santa and take a photo, click here for more details and how to sign up!

Please send us an email — believe@beaconhose.com — with any questions about Operation Believe or the Santa Drive-Thru.
