Beacon Hose Issues Update on COVID-19 Protocols

As the COVID-19 pandemic gets a bit more serious entering the holiday season, we at Beacon Hose wanted to pass along a few updates and reassurances about what’s going on here and what our community can expect.

CALLING 911: If you experience an emergency and need to call 911, dispatchers will ask you extra questions to determine whether there is a possibility of COVID-19 exposure to responding crews. Please be honest in answering questions to protect our crews.

EMS RESPONSES: For any calls that dispatchers determine to have a possible COVID-19 exposure (or a cardiac arrest call), our responding crews will don all protective equipment, including N95 masks, gowns, eye protection, and gloves. For other calls, responders will have KN95 masks and gloves. Our crews will ask all patients and bystanders at the scene to wear masks (we can provide them) or practice social distancing.

BHC Christmas Tree Sale to Begin Black Friday

UPDATE: We are sold out for this year. Thank you all for the support — Merry Christmas!

We know many of you are looking forward to Christmas more than ever this year … so we figured we’d let everyone know that we will once again be hosting our annual Christmas tree sale at Beacon Hose!

The sale will start Black Friday and continue each Saturday and Sunday leading up to Christmas until we sell out. We’ll be there from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. Our crew is happy to trim your tree to your liking, and we also offer free delivery to Beacon Falls residents.

Trees will cost $55 each this year, and we will also have wreaths available (more info to come). Due to the pandemic, all those coming down to pick a tree must wear face masks and exercise social distancing (our crew will do the same). Cash, checks, and credit cards will be accepted.

We’re also hoping to come up with some sort of idea to safely celebrate the holiday season with our community — more details to come over the next week or two.

Reviewing Snow Ordinances and Fire Hydrant Clearing

It’s a good time for Beacon Falls residents to refresh themselves on the town ordinances involving snow and ice removal from their sidewalks, as well as rules about street parking during snowstorms. Here are the key details to remember:

  • Residents must clear snow and ice away from public sidewalks adjacent to their property in a timely manner after a snowstorm. The ordinance specifies this be done within 12 hours of the end of snow (after 7 a.m.).
  • Residents and private contractors may not clear snow from sidewalks or driveways into a public street.
  • Residents cannot park on public streets for more than one hour while town workers are clearing snow.
