Chief DeGeorge, Captain Brennan Beacon Falls’ New Fire Marshals

Major congratulations go out to Beacon Hose Chief Brian DeGeorge and Capt. Cal Brennan, who recently passed their exams to become certified Connecticut fire marshals and were sworn Jan. 28 as Beacon Falls’ newest fire marshals!

Both men spent months taking long days’ worth of classes and rearranging work schedules to earn this achievement. We’re looking forward to making the connection between Beacon Hose and the fire marshal’s office even closer and more efficient in the months and years to come. Congratulations!

Beacon Hose Reports Busier-Than-Average Call Volume in 2018

Another year is in the books, and it was a very busy 2018 for Beacon Hose in a number of ways. Of course, we enjoyed unbelievable support at our fundraisers and community events, but our emergency responders were also busier than ever.

Beacon Hose responded to 363 fire/rescue calls in 2018, a dramatic increase from the usual average of 250-300 calls. Many of those calls — more than 110 of them, in fact — came in the immediate aftermath of the tornado that struck Beacon Falls on May 15.

New ‘About Beacon Hose’ Section Details BHC History, Info, Photos

Beacon Hose is Beacon Falls, so we were long overdue to update and expand the details about our company’s rich history.

Now, you can check out the 119-year history and present-day activities of Beacon Hose in a spanking-new section on our website. It starts with our establishment in 1899 and early years as the firefighting unit of the Beacon Falls Rubber Shoe Company, continues through the construction of our current firehouse in 1969, highlights our 1929 Seagrave Suburbanite, honors our line-of-duty deaths, demonstrates our current commitment to the community, and celebrates the proudest moments in our department’s history. There are plenty of rare photos and links, too.

BHC Christmas Tree Sale Runs Black Friday Through Dec. 16

UPDATE: Thanks for your support! Merry Christmas!

The annual tradition that is Beacon Hose helping our neighbors celebrate Christmas is returning once again to the firehouse with the start of our Christmas tree sales!

The sale will begin once again this year with a special Black Friday sale for those looking to get a head start on the Christmas season. We’ll continue Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 24-25) and the three weekends after that (Dec. 1-2, Dec. 8-9, Dec. 15-16) until supplies run out. We’ll be at the firehouse each day of the sale from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. (We will close on Nov. 24 and Dec. 15 at 3 p.m.)

The fresh-cut trees cost $50 each, and free delivery is available to all Beacon Falls residents. We’ll also custom trim any tree to specifications — they generally run anywhere from six to eight feet tall. We also have some nine- and 10-foot trees that are available for $60 each. Those who would like to buy a Christmas tree without leaving their own home can also call the firehouse at 203-729-1470 during any of the sale hours.
